Development School
The development and academy schools commenced in 2005 and now hold over 100 players in seven different groups. These centres are primarily for the children showing a keen interest in developing their skills. Ultimately the idea is to reach the correct standard needed to join our Soccer Academy.
Soccer Academy
The academy was launched in 2006 and the idea is to offer children excellent working facilities in order to concentrate on speed, agility, quickness of feet, conditioning and technique.
The academy works closely with professional football clubs and as at January 2014 had around 20 players in the system between Birmingham City, Aston Villa, Walsall and West Bromwich Albion football clubs.
The academy is open to quality players and at present attracts some 40 children. The sportswear giants Errea sponsor the Academy & Development schools giving sportswear for our players, which adds to the professionalism and credibility of the academy.
The coaching of the academy is taken by Jamie Bailey plus other qualified coaches such as Steve Clements, Michael Hayden, Paul O’Brien and Robbie Desmond. We play in a Pro development select league and fixtures are arranged on a periodic basis throughout the year in order to test the competitive side of our players and these games are often played against other professional clubs or development centres from around the region.
Our Aims
The overall aim of the Football Development School is to work on technique, speed, agility, and quickness sessions progressing finally onto team play. The Development School is designed to enhance your child’s natural ability whilst working to a technical program. Throughout the year your child will cover all aspects of the game as well as having the opportunity to play against other players on a regular basis.
Our centre is an invitation only school as we are a feeder centre to all the local professional clubs.
